Afghanistan U19 thrashes Pakistan U19 brutally in Under-19 Asia Cup final

Pakistan and Afghanistan played exceptionally well in the whole tournament. Pakistan and Afghanistan were to meet twice in the tournament. Afghanistan under-19 defeated Pakistan in the group stage match.

On 19th November 19, 2017, Afghanistan was to face Pakistan again in an all-important final of this tournament at Kinrara Academy Oval, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Pakistan’s bowling stumbled and Afghanistan scored an outstanding target of 249. Ikram Ali Khil scored an unbeaten knock of 107 helping his team pass 200. Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran scored 40 (53) and 36 (76) respectively.

Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Musa of Pakistan took 2 and 3 wickets respectively. They tried their best but it was not enough to stop Afghanistan’s batsmen.

Pakistan batting line up failed once again and collapsed. 9 Pakistani batsmen failed even to get double figures, three of them went for a duck and one for a golden duck. Only TWO batsmen got the double figures, Skipper Hassan Khan and middle-order batsmen Mohammad Taha scored 10 (10) and 19 (38) respectively. Taha was the highest run-getter for Pakistan under-19.

Afghanistan’s Mujeeb did it for his team. He grabbed 5 wickets in his 7.1-over spell. He gave away just 13 runs.

Afghanistan under-19 defeated Pakistan under-19 as Pakistan was bundled out for just 63 runs.

In the end, Afghanistan was a better side and played competitive cricket than Pakistan. This was the first time in the last three editions of this tournament that Afghanistan under-19 reached the finals and they won it. Well done to young guns of Afghanistan.
