The long awaited match between India and Pakistan has come to an end and it has certainly not made it up for the Pakistani fans, as the contest ended in a one sided win by India. India, who were looking down and out in the previous game against Hong Kong, have brutally defeated Pakistan by 8 wickets, chasing 163 runs with 21 overs to spare.
India and Pakistan have both qualified for the super four stage along with Afghanistan and Bangladesh, as Sri Lanka and Hong Kong have been knocked out in the Unimoni Asia cup. But how much will this hurt the Pakistanis? The team being called “favourites” and top performing going by their recent performance have lost one sidedly against India. India on the other hand will gain a lot of confidence and mental preparation by this win, as the pressure mount was on them before the match.
Pakistan many of times have surprised their fans by performing badly at the group stage, but making up for it when it really mattered in the knockout stage. The unpredictability and comeback skill has a lot of times been phenomenal for Pakistan even when it has looked impossible. Will this be the case this time too? Only the time will tell.
The first two matches of the super four stage will start on Friday, where Pakistan will take on Afghanistan and India will take on Bangladesh. The four teams will be fighting for a spot in the final being played friday the 28th of September. However, India is all set to take on Pakistan again on sunday 23rd of September. The Asia cup is turning interesting and could have an India-Pakistan final, if they teams make up for it.
Sarfaraz Ahmad mentions in the press conference that this defeat will be a big wake up call for the upcoming matches, and Pakistan will need to improve themselves if they want to win the next one versus the arch rivals.
Will the fans experience another India-Pakistan final next friday?
