Bangladesh is currently hosting the Bangabandhu T20 Cup. After 20 matches, four teams out of five, qualified for the playoffs with Beximco Dhaka and Fortune Barishal locking horns in the eliminator on Monday in Dhaka.
Even though the Mushfiqur Rahim-led Dhaka won the match by nine runs, the Bangladesh wicket-keeper was in the limelight for wrong reasons as he lost his cool at his teammate Nasum Ahmed.
The controversial incident took place in the 17th over when Fortune Barishal needed 45 runs off 19 deliveries when Afif Hossain – who had scored 55 runs from 34 balls and was Fortune Barishal’s only hope of winning – miscued an attempted scoop shot and popped it up towards short fine leg only to lob the ball in the air.
The wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim ran for the catch even as the fine-led fielder Nasum ran in to take the catch. Both the players almost collided before Rahim managed to take the catch and there was no collision either.
The close shave and the confusion over whose call it was appeared to anger the 70-Test veteran. In ugly scenes, Rahim cocked his arm back and threatned to throw the ball at Ahmed, who veered away in embarrassment.
Here’s the video:
Calm down, Rahim. Literally. What a chotu ??

The Dhaka skipper was furious with Nasum for not hearing his call and almost hit him. Nasum looked in fear and the scenes weren’t the best of viewing on the ground. Teammates gathered and tried to cheer up Nasum but Mushfiqur continued to slander his teammate.
Even what appeared to be an apologetic tap on the shoulder from Ahmed did little to cool down Rahim, who continued to gesture in animated fashion.
The footage has been received poorly with some local fans calling for the former Test captain to face a fine or suspension.
Here’s How Twitterati Reacts:
