Pakistan is in search of batting talent and this platform is the most appropriate one to find and polish it. The Top Batsmen of this year’s QAT were a mixture of experienced and young players.

Kamran Akmal the wicket keeper who represented Pakistan for more than 260 international matches was the leading run scorer. Kamran Akmal has played 221 First Class matches which can give a clear evidence about his experience. He scored 1035 runs with an impressive average of 79.61. He scored 5 tons and 3 half centuries out of his 14 innings which he played for his department WAPDA. PCB was recently considering him as a batsmen instead of wicket keeper batsmen for Pakistan tour of Australia due to his supreme form and ability to play fast bowlers well.

After Kamran, Asif Zakir is another experienced name who never got Pakistan cap but have impressive statistics in this editions of QAT. He plays for SNGPL and he scored 853 Runs with an average of 85.30. After him the young U19 star Imam ul Haq who is now 21 years old scored 848 runs with a High Score of 200 not out in the final of QAT against WAPDA. Usman Salahuddin is another batting talent which showed his class by scoring 843 runs with an average just over 70. Abdul Rehman Muzammil is a new face which is new to the domestic circuit compared to the above mentioned names, he scored 749.

Lets come to the most awaited name Salman Butt who scored 741 runs and took his team to victory along with Kamran Akmal. Butt have been impressive after his ban in all formats, He showed patience and resilience, which also boosted his team mates’s moral and confidence. Chief selector Inzimam ul Haq has indicated that he may be selected him but he need to prove himself in the domestic by playing a season. Salman has played a full season and have impressed his fans. Many people argue that Butt should not be included in the national team but the question arises is that, if amir can play for Pakistan then the same rule must be applied for Asif and Butt. Pakistani openers have always been shuffled in the last 6 years and we are in search of a classy opener which Salman had proved in the past and his current form cannot keep him out of the team for long.

Our domestic need a lot of improvement which will help the board find more talent for Pakistan. It need to be televised with better camera work and broadcasters. Players should be given better facilities and salaries which are very low compared to other international domestic competitions.
