Misbah ul Haq’s struggle as a cricketer began from the very start of his career in 2001 when he made his test debut but was soon dropped from Test Cricket in 2003 after playing just 5 Matches until 2007
He started as a T20 specialist, lost the World T20 final in 2007 against India as he was unable to finish the match which he almost saved it when the rest team collapsed.
BUT, HE BECAME NO.1 T20 PLAYER IN WORLD IN APRIL 2008 FOR ALMOST A YEAR AND WAS PART OF WT20 2009 WINNING SQUAD
He was brought back in Team as Test Captain when the team was broken, demoralized after spot-fixing 2010 incident.
HE BECAME ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL TEST CAPTAIN IN PAKISTAN HISTORY, HE TOOK PAKISTAN TO NO.1 POSITION IN TEST CRICKET
Almost every Pakistani captain had a controversial career as team was mostly involved in the grouping, fixing and other issues. Pakistan had multiple captains iin the year 2010 and but since the appointment of Misbah, he leads the team for almost 8 years and proved his leadership.
HOWEVER, MISBAH’S CAPTAINCY CAREER WAS CLEAN FROM EVERY KIND OF CONTROVERSY
Now Pakistan Cricket Board gives him a tougher job than being the captain as he is given double charge of both “Chief Selector” & “Head Coach”, he will be directly responsible and accountable for selection and team performance
Just like every time, can Misbah silence the critics and do wonders for Pakistan?
Honestly, I believe in him, his calmness, honesty with the sport, his knowledge about the system and domestic players will help our cricket. He retired from International Cricket two years ago and played the last season of Quaid e Azam Trophy and recently played Grade 2 Cricket which portrays his exposure to the depth of our cricket structure. His calmness is appreciated by the world cricket community as ICC awarded him with the “ICC Spirit of Cricket” Award in 2016.
He proved to be a great leader at every platform, he lead Faisalabad Wolves to title; moreover, Islamabad United won their first title under the leadership of Misbah ul Haq. His contributions to Pakistan cricket are appreciated worldwide and now this new challenge of selecting the team as well as coaching them is itself a huge responsibility and challenge.
Good Luck Misbah ul Haq!
