What’s next for the Newly Crowned Champions?

We are just a few days removed from one of the most historic moment in Pakistan Cricket as we got to see the team wear the white blazers and lift the Champions Trophy for the first time ever which they rightfully deserved after showing some dominating performance in the tournament. The Celebrations still have not come to an end, the fans are out in huge numbers cheering and welcoming the Cricketers back home. The players are getting honoured by the country for bringing the Trophy to Pakistan.

However, there is still plenty to do for Pakistan Cricket as their next aim should be to Prepare well for the ODI World Cup which will kick off in 2019 and in order to be well prepared for a big Tournament, the team needs to play good consistent cricket, Win different series’s against top opponents in challenging conditions and give new emerging players a chance to express themselves so that Pakistan can go with a competitive squad in the World Cup.

The Pakistan Cricket Team’s first task after securing the Champions Trophy will be to fly to the UAE in October to face Sri Lanka to play 5 ODI’s, 3 Tests and 1 T20I. This series will be an important one for Pakistan as they will look to increase their rank in all three formats of the game considering the fact that Pakistan has a good record playing in the UAE. This will also be a good opportunity for some young impressive domestic players to prove themselves by being a part of the national squad and attract the selectors by delivering solid performances so that they can be further groomed to get a chance to represent the country in some major ICC tournaments.

After that Series, there’s also Asia Cup To be held in 2018 which will again be a good platform for the players to go big and perform consistently against top Asian sides and the ICC Cricket World Cup will not be that far away so the management will be having a closer look to discover the right players to represent Pakistan for the World Cup in 2019.

It is important for all the Pakistani cricketers to perform consistently well, keep working hard and display some positive, dominating results in the upcoming series’s to gear up for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. We never know, Pakistan might just show their unpredictability again and surprise everyone by going on to emerge as winners of big tournaments in the future as Pakistan Cricket Team is quite capable of pulling that off just like we saw in the Champions Trophy 2017.
