Classical Duo – End Of Golden Era

The life is all about companionship, and a companion in cricket is not less than a blessing. Yes, individual player can win the match but not the series. To dominate in the cricket (in any department) you need a partner, in other words duo. Cricket has witnessed many unforgettable duos like: Gilchrist & Hayden, Saeed Anwar & Aamir Sohail as opening pairs. For batting department: Mark Waugh & Steve Waugh, Sachin Tendular & Sourav Ganguly, Inzimam ul Haq & Mohammad Yousaf, Mahela Jayawardene & Kumar Sangakkara. Some outstanding bowling duos are: Walsh & Ambrose, Glenn McGrath & Jason Gillespie, James Anderson & Stuart Broad, Mohammad Asif & Mohammad Amir, Donald & Ntini, and the most famous 2 W’s Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. In the most recent era, we are lucky enough to see a classical duo Younis Khan and Misbah ul Haq, the backbone of Pakistan batting lineup from a long time. Let’s have a glimpse of their career.

 

Misbah-ul-Haq: The man of crisis took over the captaincy of Pakistan when it was the darkest time in Pakistan cricket history. Terrorist attack on Sri Lankan team in Lahore. Drug case of Asif, the most highlighted spot fixing case of all time which sentenced jail to Asif, Amir and Butt. A captain left the captaincy during the series. Then a man came Misbah Ul Haq who was not even the part of test team at that time. He took the command of team, lead the team with dignity, discipline and avoided the controversies.  Stuck to work hard, White washed World No. 1 team England and Australia, Achieved the landmark of ICC # 1 test team and registered his name to the board of honor at home of cricket with unforgettable push-ups.

 

Younis khan: The man of principles, the man known for his hard work. He is one of the fittest guys in Pakistan cricket team. The man with test career average around 53. For him sportsman ship comes first. Even death of father and elder brother could not stop him. He is the 1st Pakistani (overall 13th) to achieve the milestone of 10000 runs in test cricket. The best conversion rate (after Donald Bradman) half century to century; Fourth inning specialist and The role model for sweep shot. In short, Younis khan is a complete package.

 

Remember, The day is not so far (14th of May, 2017), when Pakistan cricket will change entirely. The day when heart of millions of cricket fan will be shattered. The day when the World will start missing proper sweep shots, reverse sweeps and slog sweeps. The day when the man with nerves of steel and the most humble cricketer will say Good-Bye to cricket. The day after that World would not able to see them playing again together. The day when Misbah and Younis will take retirement from international cricket. The day when this duo will become the part of history.

 

Cricket lovers are definitely going to miss this duo.
