Before the Boxing Day Test between India and Australia began, the fans bid a memorable goodbye to the late Dean Jones at his favorite MCG cricket ground with the help of his family and fellow Allan Border.

A few months before his death, Jones took back his CV life membership removing his name from the states’ annual award for the best men’s one-day players. However, his family wanted to relish his cricket contributions and requested the MCG management to return his name to the one-day player award.

“Dean was one of Victoria’s greatest players and we want his cricket legacy to live on here for many decades to come,” CV chair Dr. David Maddocks said.

“Dean was fundamentally passionate about Victorian cricket and wanted to see us succeed on every level and have as many Victorians playing for Australia as possible.

“We share that aspiration.

“We look forward to awarding the medal again in 2021 and in doing so paying tribute to one of our most gifted and popular players who truly invested himself as a Victorian player and supporter.”

Jones’s hometown’s fans gathered together in the ground where the private farewell was said to one of the best cricketers. Also, the Australian players applied Zinc on their lower lips denoting Deano’s one of the trademark looks.
