The BBL side, Brisbane Heat and Yasir Shah have reached an agreement to be an international replacement player for the upcoming Big Bash League next month. Yasir Shah will replace one of Heat’s international player if they’re not available. Yasir is expected to replace Shadab Khan, who will be called for national duty as Pakistan plays New Zealand in January.
The Brisbane Heat’s head coach, Dan Vettori was delighted with the signing of Yasir Shah.
“Having Yasir agree to join us as a replacement player means that we can plan for the series with some certainty,’’ he said.
“Having an experienced ‘like for like’ player such as Yasir to call upon means we can hopefully have continuity with our playing plans.”
“He’s a very accomplished player in Test, One Day and T20 formats, and having him around will also benefit the slow bowlers in our squad, especially someone like Mitch Swepson who is a young bowler rapidly gaining more experience transitioning between white and red ball cricket.”
Yasir Shah is considered as one of the best leg-spinner in the world now, specially in tests. He became the second fastest to 150 wickets in the history of test cricket against Sri Lanka in September.
Despite of struggling in International limited formats, Yasir has a pretty decent record in T20s, taking 60 wickets in 74 matches at an average of 29.50. His best bowling figures are 4 for 7.
Yasir Shah will travel to Brisbane next month to train with the Brisbane Heat’s squad alongside Shadab Khan.
