20 veterans who were part of CT’13 but went missing in CT’17

4 years has passed and many players has retired; so are a handful of players dropped out from their respective teams, Champions Trophy 2017 would miss a large number of Champions who were part of the last edition in 2013.

1. Chris Gayle (WI)

Jamaican super star Christopher Henry Gayle will miss out Champions Trophy, since his team couldn’t qualify for the Champions Trophy 2017, He scored 9221 Runs in 269 ODIs along with 22 Hundreds and 47 Fifties. Chris Gayle is also the Highest Runs Scorers of Champions Trophy with 791 Runs in just 17 Innings with an outstanding average of 52.73. He also took 17 Wickets in Champions Trophy.

2. Mahela Jayawardene (SL)

Next in the List is the Sri Lankan Great Mahela Jayawardene, who took retirement from International Cricket after 2015 World Cup. He scored 12650 Runs in 448 ODIs. He is also the second Highest Run Scorer of Champions Trophy with 742 Runs.

3. Kumar Sangakkara (SL)

The Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara who took retirement after 2015 World Cup played 404 One Day Internationals and scored 14234 Runs at an average of 41.98. He scored 25 Hundreds and registered 93 Half Centuries under his name. He played 22 ODIs in Champions Trophy and scored 683 Runs at an average of 37.94.

4. Kyle Mills (NZ)

The Kiwi Experienced Fast Bowler took 240 Wickets in 170 ODIs and is also leading wicket taker of ICC Champions Trophy with 28 Wickets in 15 Innings.

5. James Anderson (ENG)

James Anderson who took 269 Wickets for England in 194 ODIs was part of English Squad in 2013 Edition of Champions Trophy, He took 21 Wickets in 12 Innings in previous editions of Champions Trophy

6. Daniel Vettori (NZ)

The Man who took 305 Wickets and scored 2253 Runs for New Zealand would be remembered in this edition of Champions Trophy. Vettori took 18 Wickets and scored 299 Runs in 17 Matches in Champion Trophies.

7. Shane Watson (AUS)

One of the finest All Rounder from Australia in recent years would be missed in Champions Trophy, He played 190 Matches and scored 5757 Runs and sent 168 batsmen to pavilion. He took 17 Wickets and scored 453 Runs in Champions Trophies.

8. Tillakaratne Dilshan (SL)

Dil-Scoop would missed as well in this Edition of Champions Trophy, since Dilshan wont be there with his team. Dilshan scored 363 Runs in Champion Trophies.

9. Stuart Broad (ENG)

Broad dismissed 178 Batsmen in 121 ODIs, He also have a decent record in Champion Trophies,  he took 16 wickets in 8 Matches two Editions of Champions Trophy.

10. Ramnaresh Sarwan (WI)

Sarwan haven’t played International Cricket since 2013, He scored 5804 Runs in 181 ODIs. He scored 361 Runs in 16 ODIs in Champions Trophy.

11. Dwayne Bravo (WI)

The Champion DJ Bravo would not be there with us in Champions Trophy, The super star from Trinidad scored 2968 Runs and took 199 Wickets in 164 ODIs. He also dismissed 15 Players, and scored 220 Runs in previous Editions of Champion Trophy.

12. Ishant Sharma (IND)

The Indian Fast bowler who took 115 Wickets in 80 ODIs got dropped from his team. He took 13 Wickets in 7 Innings in previous Editions Champion Trophy.

13. Brendon McCullum (NZ)

The Master Blaster Brendon McCullum scored 286 Runs in 14 ODIs in Previous Editions of Champions Trophy would miss out as well.

14. Misbah ul Haq (PAK)

Pakistani Former ODI Skipper who scored 267 Runs in 6 Innings of Champions Trophy. Misbah ul Haq took retirement from One Day Internationals after 2015 World Cup. He scored 5122 Runs in 162 ODIs for Pakistan.

15. Saeed Ajmal (PAK)

The Magician Saeed Ajmal who took 12 Wickets in 7 Innings of Champions Trophy and dismissed over 184 Batsmen in ODIs would be missed out in this edition of Champions Trophy

16. Mitchell Johnson (AUS)

Mitchell Johnson who left International Cricket was part of Australian Squad in 2013, he took 12 Wickets in Previous Editions Champion Trophies.

17. Ian Bell (ENG)

English Batsmen Bell scored 251 Runs in 8 Matches in Champion Trophies wont represent his team England in this year of Champions Trophy.

18. Dale Steyn (SA)

The South African Fast Bowler who was dropped from the side, he took 8 Wickets in 4 Matches in previous Editions of Champion Trophies. Steyn took 180 Wickets in this Format in 116 Matches.

19. Jonathan Trott (ENG)

Trott is out of International Circuit since 2013, He scored 229 Runs at an Average of 57.25 in previous Editions of Champions Trophy.

20. George Bailey (AUS)

George Bailey is another player who couldn’t impress the selectors for the Champions Trophy Squad, He scored 3044 Runs in 90 ODIs. If we look at his performance in Champions Trophy, he scored 114 Runs in 3 Innings.

Other Prominent Players like Alastair Cook, Kamran Akmal, Kieron Pollard, Suresh Raina, Dinesh Ramdin, Ravi Rampaul, Marlon Samuels and Graeme Swann who were part of Champions Trophy 2013 would not be seen in this Edition of Champions Trophy.

Moral of the day is that everyone won’t stay there forever, one day everyone has to go, Time ticks away with quick succession, New Players replace the old ones and master their game and become Champions.
