The 2nd T20I between West Indies and Pakistan was played in the Port of Spain.
West Indies made no change in the squad while Pakistan made only one change, Fakhar Zaman replaced Mohammad Hafeez. “We wanted a left-hander in the middle order, “ – Sarfraz Ahmed
West Indies won the toss and they elected to field first.
Brathwaite said, “We’ve batted first and it hasn’t worked out a number of times so we want to change it up”.
“We are looking to post around 160-170,” the Pakistan captain said. ” Our batting in the first game was a bit complement and we want to improve on that.”
Pakistan suffered a loss in the first over with Kamran Akmal’s wicket. He went for a duck. Pakistan struggled through out the innings. Wahab Riaz in the end scored 24 off 10 deliveries. Pakistan was all-out for 132 in 20 overs. Sunil Narine and Carlos Braithwaite took 3, 3 wickets each while Samuel Badree took 2 wickets. Pakistan set the target of 133.
West Indians tried to open up the innings slowly until they lost their first wicket in the 2nd over. Marlon Samuels and Chadwick Walton had a partnership of 50 runs but it could not stay for longer as Shadab Khan took the wicket of Walton. Hassan Ali took the important wicket of Simmons in the following next over. Shadab Khan took two wickets in a row but could not have a hat trick on the third ball. He later haunted Marlon Samuels who went for 44 off 35 deliveries. Jason Holder and Carlos Braithwaite tried to play responsible innings. Holder scored 26 off 17 not out. It all came to the last over when West Indies required 14 off 6 balls with 2 wickets left. Sunil Narine scored two fours on the first two balls but later got run out. West Indies required 5 off 1 ball with 1 wicket in hand to win. Jason Holder couldn’t hit hard and Pakistan won the match by 3 runs.
Hassan Ali and Wahab Riaz both took 1, 1 wicket each while Shadab Khan took 4 wickets for 14 runs including 17 dot balls. Shadab Khan was the Man of the Match.
3rd and 4th T20I will be played on 1st and 2nd April at the same venue. 4-0 will take Pakistan to No.3 and 3-1 will take Pakistan to No.4.
