Despite Winning The Toss West Indies Lost The Plot On Day-1

Rain affected Day-1 of Dominica Test allowed only 69 overs play for the whole day. Host Skipper Jason Holder after winning the toss opted to field 1st on a surface carrying moisture and the overcast conditions as well. The idea was right to put Pakistan in to bat in wet conditions and get the maximum benefit of the overcast conditions. But Pakistan’s counter attack ruled out the toss winning factor of West Indies as they finished the day with 2 down for just 169 runs in 69 overs.

Shan Masood who replaced un-well Ahmed Shehzad, only managed to add 9 to his total when Pakistan lost there 1st wicket for 19 runs. Then Azhar Ali & Babar Azam added a solid foundation of 120 runs for the second wicket, Both added fifties to there career statistics. Babar once again failed to convert his fifty to hundred and departed on 55.

Moment of the day was when veteran Younis Khan arrived on crease and the whole West Indian team gave him a splendid guard of honour and the skipper Holder hugged him to pay tribute to him for his services for the game of gentlemen.

Azhar Ali is unbeaten on 85 while veteran Younis Khan has joined him to make his last 2 innings memorable, it won’t be an easy day-2 for the hosts permitting to weather, 30 minutes early start on day-2 is schedule to cover some lost overs on day-1 but the weather radar doesn’t seems good for day-2 as well.
