England’s red-ball leader, Joe Root has crossed 26k Tweets within a day. Not only Twitter, but all of the social media portals have gone crazy talking about the sensational Root’s innings.

With the rotten bowling deliverance by India in the first test taking place at Chennai, England have got a wider gap as Root and other batters settled.

Root, who slammed a breathtaking hundred standing in his hundredth test match, has turned his ton into a double hundred. However, he was later caught by Sheraz Nadeem’s LBW on 218.

By the end of Day 2, the guests stand on 555 in 180 overs with 2 wickets in their hands. It seems like the hosts’ skills are failing in their own backyard.

Making a doubleton representing the hundredth red-ball game makes Root the first cricketer in the Test history to do so. A pile of records comes his way as he is fifteenth England’s cricketer in 144 years to don the English jersey in 100 red-ball games.

Now, he has three consecutive centuries – in his 98th, 99th, and 100th Test. Notably, his 200+ score has come a fifth time in his Test career. One can say that Root is perfectly in the form with already crossing the margin of 8,000 Test runs.
