The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) is to arrange a farewell match for MS Dhoni as he has retired from international cricket without signing into a farewell match of his career.
The inspiring leader undoubtedly deserves a goodbye with dignity and the sudden announcement of his retiring shocked the huge fan-base. His retirement was followed by one of his best buddies, Suresh Raina.
Dhoni was on a year gap after he played his last international match back in 2019 in semifinals of the ICC World Cup. Later on, he was spotted practicing for India’s cash-rich T20 tournament, the Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite being retired from international cricket, he is to captain his second most successful IPL franchise, Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
However, some sources have revealed that the official of CSK has sighted towards Dhoni’s quitting from IPL only in case if he wins the 2020 trophy for his cos.
BCCI to arrange a farewell match for MS Dhoni
“There is no international series right now, maybe after IPL, we will see what can be done because Dhoni has done a lot for the nation and he deserves all the respect. We always wanted to have a farewell match for him but Dhoni is a different player. He announced his retirement when nobody was thinking of it,” the official was quoted as saying in The New Indian Express
“No, but surely we will speak to him during the IPL and that would be the right place to get his opinion about a match or series. Well, there will be a proper felicitation ceremony for him no matter if he agrees on it or not. That will be our honor to felicitate him,” the official stated.
