PSL analysis: Top three favourites to challenge the trophy

With the ending of week 1 of PSL, teams are competing on a scale to challenge the trophy and creating different impacts according to their powers and potential.

Islamabad United, the most successful PSL team so far for the last four editions, have impressively won two matches out of three matches in the ongoing edition of PSL. The destructive batting side of United is what makes them the most favorite to challenge the trophy this time as well despite being winners two times prior.

Destructive and hard hitters batsmen such as Colin Munro, Colin Ingram, Luke Ronchi, and Asif Ali can drag the critical situation of the match to the possible one by their knocks. A couple of pacers like Akif and Musa might be helpful to trick the batsmen with their varieties. Skipper Shadab Khan himself is one of the talented all-rounders who has played a knock of 52 on 29 balls and picked up 2 wickets conceding 14 runs against Lahore Qalandars thus, a better economy, better fielder, better team and better the challenge.

The second most favorites might be Quetta Gladiators, the least popular but the most talented side. Inventions in players like Azam Khan with the perfect cricket hitting high shots, not just unnecessarily hits, might be the game-changing element in middle overs. Mohammad Husnain, the man of the match from the prior edition, with perfect bouncers and pace with no sign of slow balls can be the most effective for his side.

The experienced batsmen duo, Ahmed Shehzad and Shane Watson might help the side with a perfect opening and perfect target with the bowlers who can restrict the opponent before they cross the required limitations. And yes! who can forget the all-rounder like Mohammad Nawaz with variations in orthodox bowling?

Also, how a team could lose T20 when the skipper is Sarfaraz who led the national side to number 1 spot and also had lifted the trophy in PSL 2019.

There might be a clash between Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi for the third favorites as the Zalmi have been headed to finals thrice and the side that Kings possess is not least destructive. The impression Kings have made in their first match against Zalmi was impressively superb heading the target of 202 for the opponents. Zalmi could have chased as they were only a few runs away.

Bowlers like Wahab Riaz, Hassan Ali can be explosive sometimes who afterward keep the audience chants alive with their lit wickets celebrations and this might be a hurdle against the opponent.

Peshawar Zalmi possessing the exploding batsman like Kamran Akmal who crossed the first hundred of PSL 2020 with his knock amalgamating six sixes and several fours can destroy any bowling line-up so easily. He also holds the record for the most number of sixes in PSL and 8 sixes in an innings more than once. This is what made his side the third favorite for challenging the trophy.
