It is confirmed now that the mentor and an important member of the Islamabad United’s Camp, Wasim Akram has parted ways with the team after two successful seasons with them and will now be seen with the new addition in the Pakistan Super League, Team Multan that will be in action in the 3rd season of the PSL kicking off by 2018. Multan has already hit a jackpot as they managed to pull one of the most experienced and a legend of the game, Wasim Akram towards them and we all know how well different teams have done under his guidance and coaching over the years.
Wasim Akram undoubtedly played a huge role in the success of Islamabad United so far, first winning the Tournament and then making it till the playoffs. Most importantly, the bowling department of Islamabad United will be affected as Wasim Akram himself is known as one of the best seen play the game and some of the bowlers did very well under him like Mohammad Sami, Mohammad Irfan, Rumman Raees and as a matter of fact Wasim Akram played a huge role in developing all the bowlers in the team giving his assistance and some crucial tips.
Not only that but the new talent that will be explored and brought into the Pakistan Super League to play for Islamabad United will not get an opportunity to experience Wasim Akram’s mentor ship and skills which is very important for a young bowler to get so that good and consistent bowling performance will not be a problem to worry about if you have a mentor like Wasim Akram. now it’s the youngsters that will be representing Multan will be get a chance to play with the guidance of the Pakistani Legend.
Islamabad United will obviously try their best to find a mentor just as good as Wasim Akram who will be tough to replace but not impossible. The camp has already started to consider a few popular names in Cricket like Brian Lara, Sanath Jayasuriya and Ricky Ponting for new director post. It is difficult to say whether these few experienced Cricketers will be as effective and will help the team do even better every match just like Wasim Akram did in the previous two editions of the league.
