Fakhar Zaman – Settling Pakistan’s Shaky Top Order

Pakistan was struggling with openers from a good long time but a young boy from Mardan named Fakhar Zaman came into the Pakistan Cricket Team and turns the tables around.

He is a left handed batsmen and a handy part-time slow left armer. He went to Karachi at the age of 16 to join Navy but after one year he shifted his attention to cricket and Pakistani fans are so thankful for that. He was selected in Lahore Qalandar’s team after his brilliant performance in every format at domestic level. His major domestic teams include: Abbottabad, Abbottabad Falcons, Habib Bank Limited, Karachi Blues, Karachi Dolphins, Karachi Zebras, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar, Lahore Calendar’s, Pakistan A, Pakistan Navy. In 2016 he had an amazing time at the Pakistan cup as he scored 297 runs including 2 fifties and a century.

He made a permanent spot in Lahore’s team because of his strong performances in domestic cricket.

He turned out to be the only batsmen that the Lahore Qalander’s team and fans could trust because of his stability and consistency. He played 8 matches in the second edition of Pakistan super league in which he scored 177 runs including 1 fifty and the highest score he achieved was 56. He had a decent average of 22.44.

His determination and stats that speak for themselves earned him a well-deserved spot in Pakistan cricket team.  He made his T20 debut on thirtieth of March 2017 against West Indies. He played 3 t20 matches in which he scored 26 runs at a strike rate of 89.5 with an average of 13.00. The highest score he made was 21 runs. He made his ODI debut in a pressure game of Champions Trophy on seventh of June 2017 against a very strong side South Africa.  As an opener he is giving Pakistan a dream start that they ever wished for. He is playing with technique, mindset and aggression which is winning the hearts of many cricket fans around the globe. He has turned out to be stable and consistent batsmen that uses his mind while playing. Till now in his journey he has made 138 runs in 3 matches including 2 fifties at a strike rate of 117.94 2 with an amazing average of 46.00.

Champions Trophy stats:

  • 31 off 23 balls with 5 fours and 0 six vs. South Africa
  • 50 off 36 balls with 8 fours and 1 six vs. Sri Lanka
  • 57 off 58 balls with 7 fours and 1 six vs. England

He has left the world stunned with his brilliant performance in all the pressure games in a very imperative ICC event. Fakhar Zaman can turn out to be a great asset for Pakistan Cricket team if he keeps working hard with determination and serves his flaws.
