Fawad Chaudhry reveals when ‘PTV Sports’ will be upgraded to HD.

Around Two weeks ago, The Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry announced that Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) would launch two new Channels – PTV Sports and PTV Children – while present PTV Sports would be rebranded as PTV Cricket.

Talking to media representatives in Islamabad, Fawad Chaudhry said PTV Sports Channel would cover all Sports except Cricket as already running PTV Sports would stick to Cricket News and Live Coverage only.

The minister said a dedicated PTV Channel for children under 16 years of age would also be launched.

Yesterday he was asked by a person on Twitter that, When will PTV sports be upgraded to HD?

In reply to him he tweeted that, In the next six months PTV Sports,PTV home and PTV news ll be upgraded to HD.

He was further asked that, Why PTV Sports in not free?? Are they going to do it or not?

In reply he tweeted; 

He further said that, In next two years We’ll make Film industry significant revenue generating industry. Overseas Pakistanis come on invest in Film and drama I assure you you wont be disappointed.

After coming into power, the PTI’s federal government had lifted political censorship on the state television channel and it now covers all political parties, including those on opposition benches.

While at other side Prime Minister Imran Khan’s nominated Ehsan Mani has been elected as Chairman of PCB and he is about to make some big changes in Pakistan Cricket Board.

Improvement in sports top priority, says PM Imran Khan

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that improvement in sports is the need of time and a top priority of the government.

The federal government on Tuesday held its first meeting on sports which was headed by Prime Minister Khan and included federal minister Fehmida Mirza, secretary IPC Jameel Ahmed, DG Pakistan Sports Board Arif Ibrahim and others.

Federal minister Fehmida Mirza briefed the meeting about the overall situation of sports in the country.

She also briefed the premier about the preparation of new policies for sports, including hockey, as well as prioritising building and development of sports complexes and grounds in Pakistan.

While speaking at the session, PM Khan stressed on the need for immediate measures for improvement in sports facilities. “Improvement in sports is a need of time and a top priority,” said PM Imran.

PM Imran Khan also orders formulation of ‘task force’ on sports

It was decided during the meeting held on Tuesday to constitute a Task Force on sports, under Mani, to review the performance of all sports bodies, analyse the efficacy and utilization of various funds received from various sources and suggest administrative reforms for promoting sports at national as well as regional level.

The Prime Minister directed that the first step should be to improve sports grounds in order to provide opportunity to the youth to manifest their talent and excel in sports.

Reviewing the progress of various youth-focussed programs, it was informed that a liability of over Rs1 billion was pending in lieu of payment of stipend to the interns under the National Internship Program.

The Prime Minister directed that initiatives such as National Internship Program should be strengthened and greater opportunities should be provided to the young graduates to help them gain practical training in various fields.
