Quetta Gladiators have already won the hearts of millions especially hearts of people of Balochistan by lifting the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season four trophy and now they have planted a tree for the game that could bring in the next big start for Pakistan.
PSL was started with the aim of promoting cricket and provide the platform to the local talent. Following the conclusion of season one, Pakistan team found good superstars in shape of Hasan Ali, Mohammad Nawaz.
Since then the brand established strong and it keeps on giving gems like Shadab Khan, Babar Azam, Rumman Raees and many more to come.
Following the PSL-4 triumph the Gladiators went back to their roots and established a team of Quetta Gladiators Academy that could bring in next superstar for Pakistan Cricket.
The team which established after the PSL season four, made significant progress in Ramzan Cricket tournament held in Karachi Gymkhana. They remained undefeated throughout the tournament but fell short of lifting the trophy in the final and Heroes Cricket Club.
All-rounder Abdul Nasir, who was awarded man of the tournament for his brilliant performance, thanked Quetta Gladiators owner Nadeem Omar and Coach Azam Khan for their support and providing local talent an opportunity to showcase their skills in major tournament.
Nasir said, “I am with the QG Academy for last two years, Nadeem Omar and Azam Khan have worked hard with us and promoted our cricket, this is the main reason that we performed well.”
“First I played U-16 for two year, I had good seasons in which I scored over 500 runs,” He added.
“Azam Khan picked the top performing players for the side for the QG Academy. We had a camp at National Stadium Karachi where I was selected for U-23. Last year Nadeem Omar invited us for Ramzan Cricket Tournament for the first time and this year we are back again and performed well,” said Nasir.
Sharing his views, the QG Academy captain Salahuddin said that that his team can’t thank enough to Azam Khan and Nadeem Omar for the opportunity and their support for the team.
“We can’t thank enough to Azam Khan and Nadeem Omar for their support and the opportunity they gave to his side,” said Salahuddin. “Our team was selected via trails conducted by Aqeel Bhai and Shoaib Bhai. They are the coaches of Quetta region.”
Azam Khan sharing his thought over brilliant all-rounder display by the QG Academy hopped that they will continue their performance in future.
“This QG Academy team has played final of the tournament and I hope they will continue to perform in the same manner. I hope that Mr. Nadeem Omar will continue to support their team and cricket in Quetta.”
