The UEFA Champions League’s semi final draws took place on 21st April 2017, Friday. Real Madrid, Atletico De Madrid, Juventus and AS Monaco made it to the semi finals after winning in the Round Of Last 8, respectively.
Atletico Madrid we’re the first team to qualify for the semi finals after a draw ( 1-1 ) against Leicester City at King Power Stadium which helped them to advance to the semi finals through aggregate score (2-1). Real Madrid and Bayern Munich’s clash at Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid started the second leg with the lead of one goal due to a victory in the first away leg. The match was competitive until the Extra Time when Real Madrid scored 2 goals which helped them to advance to the semi finals. Cristiano Ronaldo scored a wonderful hat-trick as Real Madrid won the second leg 4-2 and aggregate 6-3 Borussia Dortmund had to face an expected upset against AS Monaco. Monaco had won the first leg 2-3. They ended up winning the second leg as well, winning 3-1. Barcelona vs Juventus was expected to be one of the best match of the season with absolute competition but unfortunately it was not. Juventus won the first home leg 3-0, completely dominating over Barcelona. Experts still believed that Barca could turn up the score board in their favor but they could not as the second leg ended up as a draw and Juventus qualified for the next round winning 3-0 on aggregate.
Atletico Madrid, AS Monaco, Real Madrid and Juventus ended up as ‘The Last 4’.
Atletico Madrid had drawn with their rivals, Real Madrid. They’ll be playing against each other for the fourth time in last 4 years. Although Real Madrid has an upper hand Atletico Madrid due to a winning record against them in the UEFA Champions League, winning twice in the finals as well. But Atletico Madrid won’t take it easy as they have regained their lost form.
The underdogs so far this season, AS Monaco will be battling against Juventus. Both teams have outperformed their opponents so far this season. It’s going to be one of the most exciting match this year and both teams are ambitious to make it to the finals and win the UEFA Champions League.
Only two out of these four teams will battle in the final in Cardiff, Wales.
