Former Newcastle player Cheick Tiote aged 30 has died. He was reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest while training in China. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. His agent reported to media about the confirmation of his death. He said; “I can confirm that my Client Cheick Tiote sadly passed away today after collapsing in training with his club Beijing Enterprises. We cannot say any more at the moment and we request that his family’s privacy should be respected at this difficult time. We ask for all your prayers.” Whereas his club also released their statement, “During a routine training session at 6 pm today, Ivory Coast player Cheick Tiote suddenly fainted and the club immediately rushed him yo hospital, but unfortunately efforts to save him failed and he passed away at 7pm.”

He joined this club (Beijing Enterprises) in January 2017. Before joining to Beijing Enterprises, he was in Premier League with Newcastle United. He scored just one goal for Newcastle and that was the most memorable in the club’s history. That goal is the main highlight of his career, it was the equalizer in a 4-4 draw against Arsenal in 2011 when his team came back from 4-0 down to draw. On Tiote’s goal against Arsenal, Newcastle legend Peter Beardsley said; “I can still see him running up the end of the pitch. He must have run 70 metres to celebrate with the fans.” Unfortunately injuries had ruined his career, that’s why he was moved to China. For Newcastle, in 6 and a half years he made 156 appearances. He also won Africa Cup of Nations 2015 with his national team. He began his professional career in Belgium with Anderlecht in 2005. Where he played with Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany. He tweeted: “I am speechless and so incredibly sad. Cheick Tiote was one of the nicest and toughest teammates I have ever had. Rest in peace brother.”

He once said that, “Football has always been the biggest thing to me.”
