Hamilton, Vettel Battle Continues Ahead of Russian Grand Prix

Finally after two weeks of break, F1 is back this Friday in Russia.Sebastian Vettel won the Bahrain GP with Hamilton and Bottas behind him after fascinating 57 laps of pure entertainment. Bottas started the race with pole position after being the fastest in the qualification round ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel. The start of the race was exciting as Vettel had a brilliant run behind Bottas and took him over to take the first position. Hamilton had received a time penalty of 5 seconds for stopping Daniel Ricciardo intentionally in the pit lane, which costed him the race.

Bottas and Vettel were having a nice battle until Hamilton requested the team management to ask his team mate Bottas to slow down and let him overtake which sadly happened. Vettel finished first, Hamilton second and Bottas third. Bottas came on the podium with a lot of disappointment and didn’t felt like celebrating at all.

Both McLarens again couldn’t finish the race. Stoffel Vandoorne did not even started the race as McLaren suffered another technical problem in the final hour, he had to retire from the race. Alonso had good 52 laps until he said on radio that he has been facing some problem and ended up saying “I have never raced a car with this less power” which is something big from the man who once raced for Minradi. Alonso also had to retire and didn’t finish the race, that was 3 out of 3 DNF for Alonso this season. Pascal Wehrlein had a wonderful weekend after recovering from the back injury and he was happy with the result.

Max Verstappen, Lance Stroll and Carlos Sainz also had to retire from the race. Verstappen hit the barriers after a breaking failure on turn one. Carlos Sainze crashed into Lance Stroll on the first corner, which resulted into a 5 place grid penalty for Sainz at the Russian Grand Prix after investigation. Vettel as usual was happy with the victory and Hamilton also showed positive signs for the second position while Valterri Bottas didn’t show much excitement despite of finishing 3rd due to team orders. Hamilton again for the third time said in post race conference that Ferrari were simply faster than the Mercedes and Vettel did a great job on the track and deserved the victory.

After 3 rounds, Sebestian Vettel still leads the Championship with 68 points. Lewis Hamilton is behind him with a gap of 7 points having a total of 61 points. Bottas with a gap of 23 points has 38 points, with the 3rd position on the table.

The 4th round of the Formula One Championship 2017 starts this Friday following a practice session with the race day on Sunday.

After a test session, McLaren Honda are confident enough for the Russian GP as they had faced no problems in tests.
