HBL PSL player draft set to take place on November 12

The HBL Pakistan Super League Player Draft is all set to take place on Sunday, November 12. 

Each Team will pick up to 11 players. Top international stars including Chris Lynn, JP Duminy, Mitchell Johnson, Dwayne Bravo, Imran Tahir, Angelo Mathews, Luke Ronchi, Colin Ingram, Wayne Parnell, and John Hastings have put their name forward for the HBL PSL Player Draft.

These players will join a star-studded PSL roster including the likes of Shoaib Malik, Brendon McCullum, Mohammad Amir, Kevin Pietersen, Hasan Ali, Darren Sammy, Shahid Afridi, Shadab Khan, Andre Russell, Shakib al Hasan, Kumar Sangakkara and many more T20 stars who have been retained by their respective teams.

Each team will go into the HBL PSL Player Draft 2017 with a squad of nine players. The Draft will include one round in Platinum, Diamond and Gold categories. This will be followed by two rounds each in Silver and Emerging. Teams will have the option to pick up to four players each in the Supplementary category.

The default pick order will see Lahore Qalandars going first followed by Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans. This may be altered as a result of trades. Meanwhile, Karachi Kings have opted to skip their first pick in the Emerging Round, they will nominate a player after the conclusion of their talent hunt program. 

Teams will have a purse of $1.2 million each to pick a squad of 20 players.

The owners were allowed up to pick up the players they wanted to retain and every team retained and traded in a total of nine players apiece. The rest of the players were released by the franchises into the PSL pool, for the new team, Multan Sultan to pick before going into the PSL Draft for the third season.

Players Retained: Mohammad Sami, Andre Russell, Rumman Raees, Shadab Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Samuel Badree, Iftikhar Ahmed, Amad Butt, Asif Ali.

Players Released: Ben Duckett, Brad Haddin, Dwayne Smith, Khalid Latif, Mohammad Irfan, Nicholas Pooran, Rafatullah, Saeed Ajmal,Sam Billings, Shane Watson, Sharjeel Khan, Steven Finn, Zohaib Khan.

LAHORE QALANDARS:

Players Retained: Umar Akmal, Sunil Narine, Brendon McCullum, Fakhar Zaman, Yasir Shah, Cameron Delport, Aamer Yamin and Bilawal Bhatti.

Players Traded: Sohail Khan in for Mohammad Rizwan who leaves for Karachi Kings

Players Released: Azhar Ali, Chris Green, Dwayne Bravo, Ghulam Mudassar, Grant Elliott, James Franklin, Jason Roy, Sohail Tanvir, Usman Qadir, Zafar Gohar

KARACHI KINGS:

Players Retained: Usman Khan, Usama Mir, Khurram Manzoor, Ravi Bopara, Imad Wasim, Babar Azam, Mohammad Amir.

Players Traded: Mohammad Rizwan in for Sohail Khan who leaves for Lahore Qalandars and Shahid Afridi from Peshawar Zalmi.

Players Released: Chris Gayle, Kashif Bhatti, Kieron Pollard,Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardena, Rahat Ali, Ryan McLaren, Shahzaib Hasan, Shoaib Malik

Multan Sultans are playing their inaugural season of PSL. Their first 9 picks are as follows:  Shoaib Malik, Kumar Sangakkara, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Irfan, Sohaib Maqsood, Sohail Tanvir, Kieron Pollard, Kashif Bhatti and Irfan Khan.
