When it comes to remarkable performances in cricket, Australia is never less than anyone. Australia is counted among World’s strongest cricket teams. They have the potential and exceptional abilities to kick out any opponent.
Taking into consideration their performances in 2019, they were more than average in all formats and departments.
Stepping into 2019, however, with a defeat against India in Test 3 of 4, they battled equally in the 4th match, which was played on January 3-6. As an outcome, the combat between two stronger sides got tied. Later, the ODI series did not seem to be in Australia’s favor as India defeated them by 2-1. India vs. Australia came to an end, and Australia was not that much motivated in the ground as Michael Clarke has recently passed on a statement over them saying,
“Everybody knows how powerful India is in regards to the financial part of the game, internationally or domestically with the IPL. I feel that Australian cricket, and probably every other Team over a short period, went the opposite and sucked up to India. They were too scared to sled Kohli or the other Indian players because they had to play with them in April,” Michael Clarke said during a chat show Big Sports Breakfast.
It is to be noted that several Australian players have gone against this statement of Clarke.
Moving ahead to two-match test series against Sri Lanka, they wiped them off by 2-0. Indeed that was a magnificent win for Australia as Sri Lanka is not to be taken lightly when it comes to Test matches. Australia moved ahead to two-match T20 series and five-match ODI series against India again, where they dusted India by a trashing defeat of 0-2. ODI worked in their favor as well; however, India fought equally. The series ended with 3-2 for Australia.
Then, Pakistan vs Australia five-match ODI series was something that brought grace and enhanced Australia for upcoming ICC WC19 as they crushed Pakistan humiliating them by 0-5.
When World Cup initiated, they performed well, but the unfortunate hit them hard as they got knocked out in the semi-finals against arch-rivals, England.
Not being disappointed, they prepared well for Test series against England in later times. With one match being tied, both the teams fought for grabbing Champions trophy, but the series ended equally among both by 2-2.
Priorly defeating Sri Lanka in the same year in test series, Sri Lanka once again got slashed by Australians by a whitewash in a three-match T20 series. It ain’t that easy to beat Australia when they have players like Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, Tim Paine, Aaron Finch, David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, Adam Zampa, etc.
Again bringing a stroke of bad luck to Pakistan, they showed a remarkable piece of performance. Pakistan Cricket, being at its worst, got trashed by 0-2 with a no result in 1st T20. The two-match Test series either did not work for Pakistan as they lost grip on both with new management and new selection.
The calendar year 2019 ended with some good memories for Australia as two of three tests against New Zealand happened in 2019 brought luck once again to Australia as in the clash, Kiwis got defeated in both.
