It is no more a secret that former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir just does not like Pakistan and for reasons that are pretty much apt.
The ex-cricketer-turned-politician has always been critical of Pakistan. In recent times, he did not leave a single chance to take shots at the arch-rivals.
From calling for boycott of Pakistan in the World Cup to involving the battle of words with Shahid Afridi, Gautam Gambhir has never shied away from speaking his mind out on Pakistan.
But Gautam Gambhir, on Saturday, kept aside all the political tension and came forward to help a Pakistani family by arranging the visa for a 7 year old Pakistani girl and her parents. The young girl will now be able to have a heart surgery in India.
The 7-year-old Pakistani national, Omaima Ali is suffering with a congenital heart disorder.
Gautam Gambhir wrote a letter to EAM Jaishankar apprising him of the girl’s situation Acting on Gambhir’s letter, Jaishankar directed Indian commission in Islamabad to issue visas to the girl and her family. Omaima Ali and her parents were granted visas to travel to India for medical purpose.
Gambhir told PTI that he had learnt about the girl’s condition through a phone call to his office by former Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Yousuf. Following this, the MP wrote to the MEA on October 1, seeking help for the child.
“I have asked our High Commissioner in Islamabad to issue appropriate visas to Ms Omaima Ali and her parents,” the minister wrote back to Gambhir in his letter dated October 9.
Gautam Gambhir himself took to Twitter to reveal the news. He wrote a beautiful Hindi poem and called the Pakistani girl a daughter before thanking the External Affairs minister for his help.
“Thank u @DrSJaishankar 4 granting visa to Pakistani girl& her parents for her heart surgery
@narendramodi @AmitShah,” he added.

Besides the photo, Gambhir also accompanied a couplet in Hindi with the photo in his tweet. The couplet read (translated version):
“When a gentle heart approached us from the other side, our heart set aside all barriers and boundaries;
with her tiny feet, she also brings sweet air for us, it appears as if a daughter is visiting her home”
Gautam Gambhir’s beautiful gesture for a six-year old Pakistan girl on Saturday left many mighty surprised.
Well, Gautam Gambhir later cleared the air on why he came forward to help the Pakistani family. The former India batsman said that he only has problem with Pakistan and its activities. The World Cup-winner also said he is happy to help the girl getting her treatment in India.
“If the 6-year-old girl can get treated in India, what better can happen,” Gambhir said.
I requested EAM & I am thankful that he has accepted the request and granted the visa. I am thankful to the PM & Home Minister too. Hopefully, she can get treated well,” added Gambhir while speaking to ANI.
