Mumbai Police badly trolled Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul

Mumbai Police took an indirect dig at suspended India cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul through their official Twitter handle on Monday.

The duo was sent home from Australia after they were caught in the eye of a controversy following their appearance in popular TV show Koffee With Karan.

Pandya and Rahul made sexist remarks against women on the show and now, Mumbai Police have come out with a unique way to school the public against doing the same. Their post read: “A ‘Gentleman’ is a Gentleman, always and everywhere.”

What’s the story?

Hardik Pandya had made an appearance with fellow teammate KL Rahul recently at an episode of ‘Koffee With Karan’.

Known for its casual format where celebs spill the beans, the cricketer had talked about everything from the sport to his dating life. In the episode, he had made misogynistic comments that have since landed him in hot water. Now, the cricketer has decided to break his silence on the matter.

On the show, Pandya boasted about hooking up with multiple women and also how open he has been about it with his parents. When asked why he didn’t ask women their name in a club, Pandya responded by saying, “I like to watch and observe how they (women) move. I’m little from the black side so I need to see how they move.”

Pandya Apologised:

Taking to Twitter, Pandya shared a tweet where he said he carefully reflected on his comments that he would like to apologise to anyone who he has hurt in any way.

He added that he had honestly gotten a bit carried away and said that he did not mean to hurt anyone’s sentiments in any way.

Here’s what his statement reads, “After reflecting on my comments on Koffee With Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way. Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone’s sentiments. Respect.”

This apology comes from the cricketer after his comments on relationships and women led him to face severe backlash on social media. In one instance, when Karan asked him why doesn’t he ask women’s name in clubs, the all-rounder answered that he likes to observe how they move.

BCCI announced their verdict:

After a lot of deliberation and speculation, Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and K L Rahul have been suspended pending an inquiry into their comments on women on a TV show, the Committee of Administrators (CoA) chairman Vinod Rai told PTI.

“Both Pandya and Rahul have been suspended pending an inquiry,” Rai told PTI

The cricketers, who have been in the eye of a storm following their sexist remarks on ‘Koffee with Karan’, will be returning from Australia where they were to compete in an ODI series starting Saturday.

The decision comes after Rai’s colleague in the CoA, former India women’s captain, Diana Edulji recommended suspension till further action against the two.

This after the BCCI ‘s legal team had confirmed that the CoA could suspend the players, but had to complete the inquiry process within a term of six months.

“Taking into account the relevant rules of the BCCI and considering that the inquiry process against the concerned players has commenced and is pending, it is open for the COA to suspend the concerned players (along with their privileges and benefits) pending enquiry and proceeding into the charges of misconduct until final adjudication. The suspension will however cease, if the said adjudication is not completed within six months,” the legal cell’s reply to the CoA read.

“It is imperative that players be put under suspension till further course of action is decided for this misconduct as was done in case of (BCCI) CEO (Rahul Johri) when he was sent on leave on sexual harassment matter,” read Edulji’s response to the legal opinion.
