The Pakistan Super League has produced many young talented players for Pakistan and it has also helped the players in their grooming. The first two seasons of the league, produced the likes of Shadab Khan, Hassan Ali, Rumman Raees, Fakhar Zaman and many other future super stars for Pakistan.
In the third season, the franchises are supporting these talented players by giving them the captaincy of their team. First we saw Karachi Kings naming Imad Wasim as their captain. It is no doubt an outstanding decision.
This morning, the winner of the first edition of the PSL named a young player as their vice-captain. It was none other than the speedster Rumman Raees while the magician, Saeed Ajmal has been appointed as the spin coach of the franchise. Pakistan’s former captain, Misbah-ul-Haq will remain as Captain of the franchise.
Rumman has been with Islamabad United since the first season. His first season was not exceptional as the second season and that performance earned him a place in the National Team.
It is good to see the franchises believing in their younger players and preparing them for the future. This decision of players becoming captains and vice-captains of their team will also help Pakistan Cricket Team in the future.
