Its not just a century

The Australian captain is getting better innings after innings. His team is not only ranked 2nd in Test format but he is also the No.1 Test Batsmen at the moment. Steven Smith’s batting average as captain never dropped below 60 in any year; moreover, his current average as captain is over 73.

Steven Smith scored his 19th century in the 3rd Test between India and Australia which made a lot of records. Smith (27y 287d) became the youngest Australian to reach 5000 runs milestone, breaking Ricky Ponting’s record of (28y 303d). He is also the 5th overall youngest to reach this milestone. Nevertheless Smith is the only Australian captain to score two centuries in a single series in India. 

Steven Smith’s 11th ton as captain was also his 2nd in India, 6th against India and 3rd in Asia. Furthermore, Steve Smith became 2nd fastest to score 5 thousand runs in test cricket in terms of matches after Bradman. Steven Smith took just 97 innings to score 19th century which is 4th quickest in Test Cricket History.

Smith is currently batting on 117 not out along with Glenn Maxwell who made a comeback after a long time. Australia is 299/4 after Day 1’s play.
