Japan beat Pakistan by 3-1 in Four-Nation Hockey Tournament

Team Pakistan failed to break its losing streak in the four-nation International Festival of Hockey, as it faced one more defeat, this time against Japan on Thursday.

Pakistan hockey team lost their second match against Japan by 3-1 in Melbourne today. This is the consecutive second defeat in this tournament. As, Pakistan lost to Australia in the first match by 9-1. That was the worst defeat ever by Pakistan in an International match.

Previous worst defeat record was against Holland and Pakistan lost that match by 9-2 in 2006. It’s quiet wonder to see such bad performances by Pakistan team. Although, Pakistan is the most successful team in the Hockey World Cup history with four titles – 1971, 1978, 1982 and 1994. Not only this, Pakistan has also 8 Gold medals in Asian games. Last time, Pakistan had won the gold medal in February 2016 in South Asian Games.

Pakistan will play their next and third match on Friday November 10th, 2017 against New Zealand. This would be the last match of Pakistan in four nation tournament. Muhammad Irfan Sr is leading the team while Umar Bhutta is his deputy.

The team includes Amjad Ali, Irfan, Abubakr Mahmood, Atif Mushtaq,Hassan Anwar, Ammad Shakeel Butt, Tasawwar Abbas, Rizwan Jr, Arslan Qadir, Shajeeh Ahmed, Shan Irshad, Umar Bhutta, Atiq Arshad, Ajaz Ahmed,Bilal Qadir and Khizer Akhtar.
