Pakistan cricket fans were blown away because of the non-availability of one of their lead pacers, Junaid Khan. Khan is facing a hairline fracture to his right foot, Pakistan Cricket Board said on Tuesday.
His injury occurred during the BPL, playing for Khulna Titans. Scan reports and assessments confirmed an unhealed stress fracture. He was Pakistan’s pivotal bowler during the Champions Trophy. He claimed 8 wickets and played a vital role in the triumph.
Junaid has been facing injuries now for a long time. He played his last T20i and Test way back in 2014 and 2015 respectively. Along with Juniad, his countrymen, Usman Khan Shinwari has also been ruled out of the New Zealand series which is to be played in the beginning of the 2018 in New Zealand.
Shinwari played his last match against Sri Lanka in October.
Now the squad is expected to be announced anytime in this week. The biggest question is that who will be the lucky one to replace Junaid Khan? Of course the committee will not pick Wahab Riaz for an important series and a tough one too.
A few reports suggest that the Selection Committee is thinking to pick a player from Sameen Gul, Tabish Khan, Sadaf Khan or Aamer Yamin. These four mentioned players are very deserving and are up to the expectations. They have been performing well in the domestic circuit too.
Let’s hope the committee, who is led by former captain Inzamam ul Haq, Pakistan’s head coach, Mickey Arthur and National Captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed brings up a solid decision for the series.
