Kent’s unbeatable streak in the county championship was expected to run a little longer until Worcestershire won by 4 wickets.
With Kent batting first, they could not set up a good score and were all-out for 260. Matt Coles was the highest scorer from the Kent side with 47 runs. Darren Stevens scored 39 while the Kent captain scored 42 runs. Joe Leach and Josh Tongue took 3 wickets each. The Aussie, John Hastings took 2 wickets while Ed Barnard and Moeen Ali took 1, 1 wicket.
Worcestershire while trailing 260 runs, had a bad start with first 3 wickets down with just 48 runs on the scorecard. Joe Clarke played an amazing innings of 142 to settle down the things. Worcestershirs captain Joe Leach scored 57. Worcestershire were all-out on 336. Worcestershire got a lead of 76 runs over Kent. Matt Coles took 6 wickets while Yasir Shah bagged 2 wickets. Darren Stevens took only 1 wicket.
Kent in their second inning got a break down in the first over of the second innings after Bell-Drummond was dismissed for a duck. But Joe Denly stood firm on the crease and played a brilliant innings of 227 runs. Adam Rouse scored 68, Matt Coles 39 and Yasir Shah 27. Kent were all-out on 474. Joe Leach took 4 wickets while John Hastings, Josh Tongue and Moeen Ali took 2 wickets each. Worcestershire needed 398 runs to win.
Worcestershire had a decent enough first wicket partnership which could not be contributed for more than 52 runs. Moeen Ali scored 63. On the other hand, Daryl Mitchell scored brilliant 142. Joe Clarke scored his second hundred of the match. He scored 110 not out. Worcestershire won by 4 wickets. They were 401 for 6 wickets. Yasir Shah took 5 wickets while Darren Stevens took only 1 wicket.
Worcestershire is in second place with 122 points while Kent falls down to the third position with 113 points in the County Championship Division 2. Nottinghamshire leads the table with 132 points.
