Galle Gladiators, one of the franchises of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) has chosen Lasith Malinga as their national icon player. The news has been exhibited a few hours back and Galle are bewildered to elect Malinga as he is known to have numerous international T20 wickets than others.
He will be representing the side along with Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi, which is owned by PSL‘s Quetta Gladiators. Notably, Afridi was earlier casted as their international icon player. The Malinga-Afridi duo will be iconic for the side terrifically and the other four franchises can suffer from them.

However, the league is all set to be initiated by 14th November. All the matches will be held at the three venues. Sooriyawewa, Pallekele, and Dambulla, with the semi-finals and final to be played in Pallekele. The Colombo city will not be getting the premium hosting rights amidst its ongoing renovation.
Notably, it faced many delays for different reasons. SLC first kicked off with the league in 2018 which could not be proceeded further and was shifted for the next year. The Island country was not fortunate enough as 2019 went ahead with the postponement of the cricketing events and other sports across the globe. As expected, the end of 2020 is to welcome the pre-decided league for the first time.
