Match Preview: 1st T20I Pakistan vs World XI

The wait of 8 years of Pakistanis is nearly over with the World XI to play a 3 match T20 series in Lahore at Gaddafi Stadium. The first T20 is to be held on 12th September. The World XI side consist of current and former cricket stars. The Pakistan team who recently won the Champions Trophy, is strong and determined. The competition will be tough. The players of both sides are extremely excited.

South Africa’s Hashim Amla who is a player of the World XI side said in a press conference that:

“Last time I toured Pakistan, the crowds were good, the atmosphere was good and I am so happy to be going there again. For the players it’s about helping Pakistan get International Cricket back in their country which is also important for World Cricket”

Pakistan’s Head coach Mickey Arthur explained the need of international cricket in Pakistan:

“I definitely think it affects all cricket. The first-class cricketers in Pakistan are not able to see their stars playing at home and are not able to lift their standards so it’s a vicious circle. I think Pakistan was always a destination where it was hard to come and win. I was the coach of the South African team which came here in 2007.”

Hassan Ali had a successful experience in the Champions Trophy with 13 wickets to his name.
