Andy Murray defeated Spaniard Fernando Verdasco 6-3, 6-2 in the final of Dubai Tennis Championship 2017 and claimed the first title of the year. At the starting of the tennis season, he reached to the final of Australian Open where he was defeated by world number 10 Roger Federer.
As Murray won this title for the first time in his career. Not only this, he is the first British player to win this title in the history of 25 years. Back in 2012, Murray reached to the final but unfortunately he was defeated.
Andy Murray started the game slow and was looking off. But then he bounced back, started playing well. Due to his determination and hard work, he won it with flying colors.
On the other hand, Verdasco was also looking for his first title here. He upset 6th seeded Roberto Bautista in the first round and 4th seeded Gael Monfils in the quarter final of the tournament.
Andy Murray while talking to the media said,
“It’s always nice to win any tournament but especially ones you haven’t won before, so I’m very happy to do it here for the first time. It’s been a good start to the year.”
