The one team that has challenged India in recent years in limited over Cricket especially in their home yard is New Zealand. They fought well and took the series to the decider in 2016 where it was 2-2 and ended up being 2-3 where India clinched the victory and now again in 2017 it all came to the last match. The one thing that stood out very clear is that Kohli is eyeing for the 2019 World Cup. The reason is simply because he has rested his gun bowlers (Ashwin and Jadeja) and tried new options and the other thing is the “Toss” Factor. The statistics shows that India is phenomenal in chase but after the champions Trophy Kohli has decided to bat first on more occasions than to bowl.
It could be because he wants his men to defend the totals and get used to of it where they have successfully defended the total against New Zealand and won the series. On the other hand New Zealand is relying on their ever great Kane Williamson and they are developing into a strong Side .The inclusion of Munro at the top and give Tom Latham a 5th spot to bat help them a lot.
The only challenge for India is to find a batsman who can play at no 4 spot .They has tried numerous options but Consistency is missing at that spot.
New Zealand on the other hand has a lot of all-rounder in their team but they are too young and needs to give them a proper run.
