Sachin Tendulkar’s India were bowled out for this very same score – 81 – by West Indies under Brian Lara at the same venue back in 1997. West Indies also conceded the lead in that match as well. India were given the target of 120 to chase but they crumbled to 81 only.
Surprisingly there isn’t much difference in the overs bowled as well. India’s innings lasted for 35.5 overs while Pakistan innings lasted for 34.4 overs only.
20 years ago all the 10 wickets were taken by 3 fast bowlers and West Indies used only 3 bowlers in the 4th innings, same happened 20 years later to the arch rivals of India as well.
Run rate in both matches is almost same, India scored with a run rate of 2.26 runs per over, while Pakistan scored with a marginal better run rate of 2.33 runs per over.
There is only 4 runs difference for the highest scorer in the second innings for both India & Pakistan. VVS Laxman was the highest scorer with the score of 19 while Sarfraz Ahmed is the highest scorer with the score of 23.
Both India & Pakistan have registered the lowest score of 81 at Barbados.
