  11. Hassan Ali
  12. Wahab Riaz
  13. Mohammad Amir
  14. Junaid Khan
  15. Mohammad Asghar
  16. Fahim Ashraf

New names like Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman and Fahim Ashraf have been selected for the tour. Rumman Raees has been selected for the T20I series after a lethal performance in PSL 2017. Kamran Akmal has made a comeback in both T20 and ODI squad after amazing performance in Domestics and then carried his form in the PSL 2017. Akmal was the top scorer in Quaid-e-Azam trophy 2016 with 1035 runs with an average of 79.61. He was also the top scorer of PSL 2017 with 353 runs. Ahmed Shehzad has been given a chance to make his place in the team again after the selectors were looking for a replacement for Sharjeel Khan. Ahmed Shehzad was in quite form after hitting three hundreds in the departmental one-day cup. He scored 653 runs with an average of 93.28 in the tournament. He also had some impressive knocks in the PSL 2017. Mohammad Amir will be rested for the T20 series but will be part of the ODI series. It was necessary as Amir was part of the squad since his comeback in 2015. Usman Khan Shinwari and Rumman Raees have only been selected for the T20 squad. I believe if both perform well, selectors might consider them for Champions Trophy. Babar Azam will hopefully carry his form and improve his game. This is an important tour for him before the Champions Trophy. Shadab Khan will be replacing Mohammed Nawaz in the ODI squad. A lot is expected from the 18 years old. I would love to see him boosting the bowling attack alongside Junaid, Amir and Imad. Asghar is finally called after a great performance in the domestics specially. He performed well last year in the PSL but could not make it to the squad. It will be a tough decision to choose between Shadab and Asghar for the captain and team management in the line-up.

Fakhar Zaman was brilliant in the Quaid-e-Azam trophy. He later carried the form in PSL 2017 for Lahore Qalandars. He is a great choice for the middle order. He plays according to the situation of the game and has good shot selection.

A lot of people have been talking about Asif Zakir and his age. I don’t think age will be a matter if Asif is given a chance to play and he performs. He is 33 years old and plays for Sui Southern Gas Corporation. He was the top scorer in 2015-16 Quaid-e-Azam trophy with 791 runs. He’s fit and a very talented batsman. In the situation in which Pakistani team currently is, we need performers who can stable our current situation and build the status of one of the tough team in the world again and Asif Zakir is one of them. Asif has an average of 37.72 in First Class and 44.69 in List A with the bat.

Fahim Ashraf is another new name who has been selected for the ODI squad. The 23 year old who plays for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited is a left handed batsman and right arm medium bowler. Though Ashraf is known for his performance with the ball but he has also scored some handy runs with the bat. He averages 32.62 with the bat in First Class. Ashraf has taken 94 wickets in 31 First Class matches with an average of 26.63. He has also taken 52 wickets in 34 List A matches. Fahim Ashraf has been performing well in recent years and surely deserved a call for the national team. Mohammad Hafeez is not my favourite player, but I believe his presence in the squad is important, as he is one of the senior players. He has experience. I hope he gives an allrounder performance throughout the tour. I’m very excited for the tour to start and I cannot wait to see my team winning. Cheers!
