Pakistan vs West Indies – T20I Series Report

With the last t20 win, Pakistan clinched the series 3-1. Now, both teams will face each other in One Day matches. Have a look at the results of this series;

1st t20 – Pakistan won by 6 wickets.
2nd t20 – Pakistan won the match by three runs.
3rd t20 – West Indies won the match by 7 wickets.
4th t20 – Pakistan won by 7 wickets

In 1st t20, Pakistan restricted the world champions to 111. Shadab Khan the debutant, showed outstanding performance by taking 3 wickets for 7 and helped Pakistan to restrict them to 111. Brathwaite scored 34 runs but remaining batsmen didn’t help him to set a big target. Pakistan achieved the target on the first ball of 18th over. Shoaib Malik the man in green hit a cover drive for four and thus sealed a victory for Pakistan. Shoaib Malik was the top scorer with 38 runs. Kamran Akmal 22 and Babar Azam 29 also contributed to achieve the target. Pakistan in first match of the series defeated West Indies by 6 wickets and lead the series by 1-0. Kamran Akmal was brought into the team after almost three years. But he made his comeback as a specialist batsman, skipper Sarfraz has already taken his role as a wicket-keeper. His performance in Pakistan Super League was the main cause of his comeback and he added valuable runs to the team’s total.

At the Queen’s​ Park Oval, Pakistan again defeated West Indies by three runs. This made the lead 2-0 for Pakistan. Pakistan in 2nd match, all out for 132. Shoaib Malik was the top scorer with 28 runs on 20 balls. Narine and Brathwaite took 3 wickets. But Pakistan well defended their second lowest total of t20 due to Shadab Khan’s brilliant spell. Shadab Khan again showed good performance by taking 4 wickets. Samuels tried to achieve the target with 44 runs but couldn’t finish the match. They were good at the start but soon after the dismissal of Simmons; Pollard, Powell and Samuels also lost their wickets. They lost their 3 wickets with a difference of 6 runs, and that was the turning point of the match. They faced the defeat just by 3 runs.

West Indies encountered Pakistan cricket team and sealed a first victory of the series in 3rd match of the series. West Indies defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets to keep alive in the series. 91 by Lewis helped West Indies to give a target of 138 in Port of Spain. Pakistan lost their early two wickets for just 4 runs. Badree took these 2 wickets to put Pakistan in trouble. But Kamran Akmal 48 and Babar Azam 43, lead the team’s score to 137. In reply, West Indies showed the performance which their fans were missing in last two matches. Hosts completed the target in 3 wickets.

In the final match, Pakistan smashed West Indies and won the match by 7 wickets. Thus Pakistan also won the series too by this win 3-1. Walton wicket-keeper batsman, added valuable 40 runs to the total and later with Brathwaite 37 runs, team scored a total of 124. Pakistan got the target of 125 which they easily and convincingly scored in 3 wickets. Opener Ahmed Shehzad hit 50 and consistent Babar scored 38 runs to sealed the series win for Pakistan. West Indies tried 7 bowlers but they couldn’t do much for the team.

Shadab Khan was chosen as the player of the series due to his superb performance throughout the series. He took 10 wickets in 4 match series.

Good to see Pakistan is utilizing their young talent and those guns are performing. Pakistan Super League has given Pakistan young guns like Shadab Khan, Ruman Raees and Hasan Ali. Now, PCB should give them complete chances rather than dropping them after a series.

The difference between world champions West Indies and this side West Indies is the captain. Brathwaite is struggling for his own place in the team. Unfortunately, their batsmen had a bad performance throughout the series. Both the teams must be looking forward to limited overs series which is starting from April 7th.
