Aisam ul Haq Qureshi, the professional Pakistani tennis player is currently Pakistan’s top player in doubles. The tennis star has won most Davis Cup for Pakistan and being successful in singles and doubles, he is also the part of most successful doubles pairing of Pakistan. Notably, he is the only Pakistani player to reach the final of the Grand Slam.
Aisam was live in the Quarantine show’s 35th episode hosted by Green Team where he discussed his prior campaign, “STOP WAR, START TENNIS”, and an upcoming campaign to help around 10,000 families in Ramadan affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.
The player, in the collaboration with Rizq Foundation, has collected memorabilia of notable Pakistani athletes to mark the worth and to use it helping those in need affected by the global pandemic. He will be auctioning the memorabilia of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Shoaib Malik, Sania Mirza, Jahangir Khan, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shahbaz senior hockey player, Amir Khan, etc to generate funds.
Aisam’s main target is a hundred thousand families working in collaboration with the Rizq foundation. He already has collected many memorabilia which will be put on the foundation’s official site with the initial bid. In the end, the highest bid will be winning. All the athletes and people who can afford can sign in to play their part.
In the show, when discussing COVID-19 effect on his career, he said that it has happened for the first time in 15 years that he hasn’t touched the racket and hasn’t played tennis for straight two months for the first time in his playing career.
Aisam, who has found tennis in his genes by his well-known parents and grandparents, also maintained his prior campaign “STOP WAR START TENNIS”, Champions for Peace Rohan Bopanna and Aisam Qureshi created an NGO wished to promote peace through tennis.
Aisam Qureshi thinks that sport and tennis can help to build bridges between communities and countries in conflicts.
