Opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad has broken dynamic all-rounder Shahid Afridi’s record of fourth highest Twenty20 International (T20I) run-scorer for Pakistan.
Shehzad achieved this feat in the third T20I against New Zealand that was played in Mount Maunganui on Sunday.
Adding 19 runs to his tally in the final match, the right-hand batsman surpassed Afridi’s 1405 runs and has now 1416 T20I runs to his name. Shehzad has also hit a T20I century in his career.
Shoaib Malik is the highest T20I run-scorer for Pakistan, followed by Umar Akmal and Mohammad Hafeez.
- Shoaib Malik (1821 Runs)
- Umar Akmal (1690 Runs)
- Mohammad Hafeez (1658 Runs)
It is worth mentioning here that the Green Shirts defeated the Blackcaps to win the three-match series and also became number one T20I team. The 18-run victory in 3rd T20 gave Pakistan a come-from-behind 2-1 series win.
