Big Bash League and English county wanted to Haider Ali

Australia’s premier T20 tournament, The Big Bash League and an English county are trying to secure the signing of Pakistan’s new rising star Haider Ali.

According to sources, the two teams of the BBL have approached the upcoming batsman but the 19-year-old has turned down the offer as he will be in New Zealand with the national team.

Sources have also said that one English county is interested in signing Haider, in hopes that the youngster will be seen performing in the English domestic circuit.

The 20-year-old became the first Pakistani to score a half-century on his debut.

Hard-hitting batsman Haider Ali has aimed to represent the Pakistan cricket team across all three formats following his remarkable T20I debut last month in England.

“I want to represent Pakistan in all three formats, Tests, ODIs and T20Is,” Haider said in an interview with Geo Super.

Haider Ali said that he is looking to continue in the same momentum.

“I am satisfied with the way I have started my career,” he said.

“My first-class career started off well. I did well in the Pakistan Super League and then scored a half-century on my T20I debut. I am happy with this and I will try to carry on with this form in the coming days,” he said.

Haider scored 99 on his first-class debut for Northern last year. In the ongoing National T20 Cup, the young batsman scored 156 runs in four innings.

The precociously talented batsman believes that playing first-class cricket is important for a cricketer to play during their formative years.

“Playing domestic cricket and especially first-class cricket always plays an important role in their development,” he said.

“I am happy that I got the chance to play first-class cricket earlier in my career and when I got this opportunity, I gave my best,” he said.

The whiz-kid lauded his coach Mohammad Wasim and said that his support was instrumental to him.

“I am glad to have such coaches around me,” he said.
