Hassan Ali’s sixer leads Pakistan to third t20i and series victory

The deciding game of the T20i series between Pakistan and South Africa was played today at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore(GSL). To say it was an all interesting contest would most definitely not be an understatement. Let’s relive the match.

Pakistan won their first toss in the series and decided to bowl first. Shaheen started off with the new bowl. The guests saw an undesirable display of batting by their top and middle order. At one stage they were 65-7. From this, it seemed that South Africa would have been lucky to even reach a target of 100 but David Miller had other plans. He took the burden on his shoulders and went on and on scoring runs by both big shots and rotation of strike. His contribution put up a total of 164 runs on the scoreboard.

Now it was the host’s turn to bat. Mohammad Rizwan, living up to his fame scored 42 runs and made Pakistan stand firm. The skipper who wasn’t able to play a long innings since the previous innings also got his form back and achieved 44 runs. Haider Ali, Hussain Talat, Asif Ali once again went pear-shaped and weren’t able to make decent runs.

Fahim Ashraf who was brilliant in the last game also wasn’t at his best. But despite it all, the Pakistan team once again showed its unpredictability and snatched the game from the Proteas. Hassan Ali scored valuable 20 runs on 7 balls. He also finished the game with style. 2 runs were needed from 9 balls but the fast bowler hit a six which seemed like the perfect end for the Pakistan team.

With this triumph, Pakistan has become the first-ever team to win 100 matches in T20is cricket. This is also the first time that South Africa have lost a series in Asia. Speaking of the ceremony, Mohammad Rizwan was an honoured player of the series. The man of the day also said a few things regarding his performance.

“Every player has his own mindset and I am someone who doesn’t just believe in form, rather I believe that if you work hard you will get your rewards from the Almighty

Last but not the least, Pakistan is thankful to South Africa for touring Pakistan. Their t20i captain Heinrich Klaasen is taking good memories of the country with him as he said;

“The people in Pakistan have been incredible & are friendly people. Their security was top notch and we can’t complain about how they have treated us. It’s been really pleasant to have been around them & to be in their country.”
