India and Pakistan, the two cricketing nations whose matches have viewership from all around the globe haven’t come face to face in a bilateral series since 2012 and after that have only met each other in ICC tournaments and Asia cup. It’s been a long wait of 9 years when the arching rivals played three ODI and two T20i.
Pakistan then toured India and won the ODI series by 2-1 and drew the T20i series by 1-1. It was quite a favorable result for the boys in green. However, due to internal relations fluctuating the sports between both countries saw a downfall too.
As per reports from Geo Super. It has been said that PCB has received signals from higher authorities that there may be a chance of India and Pakistan playing against each other in the near future.
The PCB official whose name is unknown didn’t openly comment on the issue but stated that “we have been told to prepare” according to Urdu daily
Ehsan Mani nevertheless clarified that PCB is not the organization that has been a part of any of the talks with the neighboring country.
Not only the Pakistan media is speculating this but the Indian media is on the same line. 2021 is a year that is full of matches and tournaments. Although three games may be arranged in a six-day window.
Shahid Afridi, the star all-rounder has commented on the issue earlier and is in favor of both countries playing each other.
“Cricket between Pakistan and India is very important, Sports should be kept away from politics. Relations between the two countries can improve because of cricket.”
He further explained how the players from the other side find joy in traveling to Pakistan
“I have said this before as well, Indian cricketers enjoy coming to Pakistan. You can improve relationships through sports but if you don’t want to improve them then they will remain the same way,”
