Pakistani Squash star Maria Toorpakai has been chosen as the member of International Olympic Committee in Sports Commission. She will assist IOC for the development and implementation of its women and sports policy.
In IOC quota system, about 62% members are male and 38% are female. IOC had increased female quota in 2013.
After being the member of IOC Maria said,”It is a matter of joy for me. My appointment will benefit Pakistan. I will represent Pakistan in the Olympics arena and will raise my voice for Pakistani sports in the Olympics Committee.” She added that her appointment in IOC was an honour for her and for her country too.
