With Pakistan’s tremendous victory in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, the path to further opportunities has somewhat cleared. With Fakhar Zamans beautiful opening, Hasan Ali’s deft performance, Mohammad Amir delivering the best spells in the tournament along with Imad Wasim, All under one umbrella of Saifi bhai, Sarfraz Ahmed Captain of the Winning Team.
Pakistan has been facing multiple challenges and was unable to host any International Cricket ever since the notorious attack on the Srilankan Team in 2009 in Lahore, however we see changing times and a new era in International Cricket and Pakistan especially after successfull organizing ‘Pakistan Super League’ and hopefully the increased precautions regarding the security situation in Pakistan.
The good News is that International Cricket will probably return with the recent hope of ICC considering sending a world XI side to Lahore to play a four-match T20 series as well as ODI in September.
“During ICC meeting, Sri Lankan officials appreciated the security situation and expressed their consent to send their team for few matches in Pakistan,” PCB Chairman Shehryar khan recently said.
Such news would elevate the youth of Pakistan who has been much deprived of seeing the big stars in their home ground, This International cricket in Pakistan would be a breath of Fresh Air for the enthusiast as such entertainment was much awaited.
The improved security has been the reason behind such a decision, It has nearly been confirmed that Pakistan will be welcoming the Sri Lankan team at the end of this year and this would be a new step to put any past bitterness regarding the attack aside and move ahead with the new determination.
Sri Lankan team would be playing T20’s as well as ODI’s against Pakistani team though the sad news is that it would be confined to Lahore only and no other city of Pakistan. However, we must not lose hope, this is just a start sooner or later we will see more teams touring Pakistan too. With the Confidence building and the baby steps in the form of Sri Lankan teams visit along with the World XI team, which will be touring Pakistan in September includes international Famed Cricketers from Australia, West Indies, Sri Lanka and South Africa.
This would further restore credence in the Sri Lankan team to visit and it would prove to be in a positive direction. Pakistan will be providing high-profile security to the Sri Lankan team along the lines of the security which was provided to foreign players for the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Pakistan has even played their home series at the impartial venues because the other countries have been refusing to send their teams to Pakistan with the exception of Zimbabwe. Though the excitement is in the air, much has yet to be decided by the board of governors regarding the tour. It is time to give all Pakistani’s a cause to Cheer And Hope for the Best ,Wishing our team Good Luck for the Upcoming series And Cheer!
