Pakistan’s Iram Khalid has managed to bag a place in the Asian Women Baseball all-star team. She was included in the team, at the conclusion of the Baseball Federation of Asia’s (BFA) sports event which was held in Hong Kong, this month. She is the only Pakistani player to receive such a recognition in the six-team tournament.
Along with Pakistan there were Asia’s top six ranked national women’s teams – Japan (1), Chinese Taipei (6), Korea (7), Hong Kong (10), India (11) and Pakistan (12). But unfortunately, Pakistan were unable to win any of the match in the whole tournament. However, due to Iram Khalid’s noteworthy performance in the Baseball Asian Cup, she earned a place in the all-star team, which comprises of the event’s best performers. She has been included in the “Catcher” category for the BFA tournament’s all-star team.
While, talking to media she expressed her views on this achievement. She said that Pakistan was playing against the best teams of the world. “We were unable to win a match as team, but I am happy to be recognised and inducted in all-stars team.” She was happy for this landmark recognition. Not only this, she also dedicated this award to the nation. She added; “I dedicate this achievement to the nation.” Pakistan team were lacking and struggling in the field which ultimately helped the opponents to win a match. Pakistan were making many mistakes, they were not communicating properly, lack of confidence and practice laid them down. Pakistan have not been able to win any match in the first edition of the BFA Women’s Baseball Asian Cup, but Iram Khalid on her solo and good performances has been included in the all-stars team that’s a huge achievement for her and Pakistan.
