Pakistani Players Performance in CPL 2017

CPL fifth season has kicked off from first of August to seventeenth of September. Seven Pakistani players were drafted for CPL 2017 while three players come as a replacement for injured players.

The seven drafted players are:

  • Pakistan all-rounder Sohail Tanvir was picked up by Guyana Amazon Warriors for $160,000.
  • Pakistan senior all-rounder Shoaib Malikwas picked up by Barbados Tridents for $110,000.
  • Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmalwas picked up by St. Lucia Stars for $15,000.
  • Pakistan young all-rounder Imad Wasim was picked up by Jamaica Tallawahs for $90,000
  • Pakistan Fast bowler Mohammad Sami was also picked up by Jamaica Tallwahs for $70,000.
  • The 18-year-old magnificent all-rounder Shadab Khan who was a part of Islamabad United was picked by Trinbago Knight Riders for $30,000.
  • Pakistan experienced Fast bowler Wahab Riazwill play for Barbados Tridents for $30,000.
  • Pakistan consistent batsman Babar Azam has been named a replacement for the injured Chris Lynn for the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
  • Pakistan veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez and remarkable fast bowler Hassan Ali have been called as replacement for Ben Cutting and Kieron Powell respectively for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

Let’s have a look at their Performances:

Sohail Tanvir Batting first Match: He scored 0 runs on 2 balls at the strike rate of 0.00 (run out).

Sohail Tanvir bowling first match: He bowled 4 overs taking 1 wicket giving 22 runs at the economy rate of 5.50.

Sohail Tanvir Batting second match: He scored 1 run on 2 balls at the strike rate of 50.0 (run out).

Sohail Tanvir bowling second match: He bowled 4 overs taking 0 wickets giving 30 runs at the economy rate of 7.50.

Sohail Tanvir batting third match: He scored 11 runs on 13 balls at the strike rate of 84.61 (catch out).

Final Verdict: He has not played up to the expectations in this year of CPL. He struggled badly in his batting and was also not able to bowl amazingly.

Shoaib Malik batting first match: He scored 33 runs on     27 balls at the strike rate of 122.2 (catch out)

Shoaib Malik bowling first match: He bowled 2 overs taking 0 wickets at the economy rate of 5.50.

Shoaib Malik batting second match: He scored 8 runs on 10 balls at the strike rate of 80.0 (run out).

Shoaib Malik bowling second match: He bowled 3 overs taking 0 wickets giving 26 runs at the economy rate of 8.66.

Shoaib Malik batting third match: He scored 0 runs on 1 ball at strike rate of 0.00 (catch out)

Shoaib Malik bowling third match: ‘Did not bowl’.

Final Verdict: He has been quite average in both his bowling and batting, he could have done better.

Kamran Akmal batting first match: He scored 5 runs on 8 balls at the strike rate of 62.50 (run out).

Kamran Akmal Batting second match: He scored 17 runs on 14 balls at the strike rate of 121.42 (catch out).

Kamran Akmal batting third match: He scored 0 runs on 1 ball at the strike rate of 0.00 (catch out)

Final verdict: He has struggled hard in this season of CPL and has not been able to pile up runs.

Imad Wasim batting first match: He scored 16 runs on 12 balls at the strike rate of 133.33 (not out).

Imad Wasim bowling first match: He bowled 4 overs taking 2 wickets giving 16 runs at the economy rate of 4.00.

Imad Wasim batting second match: He scored 0 runs on 1 ball at the strike rate of 0.00 (lbw)

Final verdict: He has done well with the bowling but he was not able to play with all his heart in the batting.

Mohammad Sami bowling first match: He bowled 4.0 overs taking 0 wickets giving 48 runs at the economy rate of 12.0.

Mohammad Sami bowling second match: He bowled 4.0 overs taking 4 wickets giving 12 runs at the economy rate of 3.0.

Mohammad Sami bowling third match: He bowled 4.0 wickets taking 1 wicket giving 22 runs at the economy rate of 5.50.

Final Verdict: He has bowled well, the economy was issue in the first match but he recovered well.

Shadab Khan batting first match: ‘Did not bat’

Shadab Khan bowling first match: He bowled 4.0 overs taking 2 wickets giving 15 runs at the economy rate of 3.75.

Shadab Khan batting second match: He scored 30 runs on 33 balls at the strike rate of 90.90 (not out)

Shadab Khan bowling second match: He bowled 4.0 overs taking 1 wicket giving 16 runs at the economy rate of 4.00.

Shadab Khan batting third match: He scored 6 runs on 4 balls at the strike rate of 150.00 (catch out)

Shadab khan bowling third match: He bowled 4.0 overs taking 1 wicket giving 25 runs at the economy rate of 6.25.

Shadab Khan batting fourth match: ‘Did not bat’.

Shadab Khan bowling fourth match: He bowled 4.0 overs taking 4 wickets giving 28 runs at the economy rate of 7.00.

Final Verdict: He has been exceptional with the bowl and he has also done fine with batting so overall he performed up to the mark.

Wahab Riaz bowling first match: He bowled 4.0 overs taking 1 wicket giving 22 runs at the economy rate of 5.50.

Wahab Riaz bowling second match: He bowled 4.0 overs taking 3 wickets giving 32 runs at the economy rate of 8.00.

Wahab Riaz bowling third match: He bowled 2.2 overs taking 2 wickets giving 27 runs at the economy rate of 11.57.

Final Verdict: He has bowled rightly, economy was a little high in the last 2 matches but he was a wicket-taker bowler in all three matches so his performance was decent.

Babar Azam batting first match: He scored 21 runs on 30 balls at the strike rate of 70.00 (catch out).

Babar Azam batting second match: He scored 21 runs on 20 balls at the strike rate of 105.00 (catch out).

Babar Azam batting third match: He scored 2 runs on 4 balls at the strike rate of 50.00 (LBW).

Final verdict: He wasn’t a treat to the eyes this year because the cricket fans expect much more from him because of his potential.

Mohammad Hafeez batting first match: He scored 19 runs on 16 balls at the strike rate of 118.75 (catch out)

Mohammad Hafeez bowling first match: Did not bowl.

Mohammad Hafeez batting second match: He scored 11 runs on 14 balls at the strike rate of 78.57 (run out).

Mohammad Hafeez bowling second match: He bowled 1.0 overs taking 0 wickets giving 4 runs at the economy rate of 4.00.

Final Verdict: He did not perform brilliantly in the 2 matches he played. He is much more talented and can do wonders for his team but unfortunately he wasn’t able to.

Hasan Ali bowling first match: He bowled 4.0 overs taking 0 wickets giving 19 runs at the economy rate of 4.75.

Hasan Ali bowling first match: He bowled 4.0 overs taking 2 wickets giving 19 runs at the economy rate of 4.75.

Hasan Ali bowling second match: He bowled 4.0 overs taking 1 wicket giving 19 runs at the economy rate of 4.75.

Final Verdict: He has performed quite wonderful with a decent economy and by being a wicket taker.

Some of the Pakistan players have performed amazingly and have made their country proud, some have performed average which is acceptable and some have performed poorly which have disappointed their fans. These types of leagues are very beneficial for the players to learn from their mistakes and come stronger with more force.
