Petra Kvitova – A Comeback To French Open

Two-time Wimbledon champion and world number 15 Petra Kvitova has started her practice for the first time since she was attacked with a knife. Kvitova shared a photo on social media in which she was practicing in the court.

Back in December 2016, she was attacked with a knife in her apartment. The injury was severe. It was initially believed that she would not be able to play tennis for 6 months. But last month she indicated that she might return in French Open. She has submitted her entry for French Open but she may not be ready to play.
She said,”My name will appear on the entry list for Roland Garros tomorrow because as the entry deadline is approached, I have made good progress in my recovery process and I want to give myself every last opportunity to be able to compete at one of my favourite events. This unfortunately doesn’t mean necessarily that I will be ready to play in Paris, but I’m doing every possible thing to give myself a chance and keep a positive mindset.”she added.

Petra Kvitova’s last appearance in the court was in November 2016 against Caroline Garcia in the final of Fed Cup  where she defeated Caroline and won the title for the 5th time.

She has appeared 7 times in the French Open but unfortunately has not made into the finals yet. In 2012 she reached in the semifinal of the french open for the first time in her career where she lost to Maria Sharapova.

The French Open will begin from 28th May 2017.
