Champions Trophy 2017

PREVIEW: Sri Lanka vs South Africa – ICC Champions Trophy

Proteas will take on the Lankan’s Lion in Group-B in the third match of ICC Champions Trophy. Group-B featuring three Asian Giants including Pakistan & India as well. So this group will be very interesting to see that how these three Asian Giants will make progress to the knock out stage, as only 2 teams from each group will progress to the Semi Finals.

The recently concluded Royal London ODI series between the Hosts England & South Africa wasn’t fruitful for the touring side but still lot of positives for Proteas to bounce back well in the main event.

Sri Lanka on the other hand is very much a developing side but they have shown that they are not behind the others, the warm up match against Aussies was a very much close encounter and it was an eye opener for the other teams of Group-B as well.

Key Players:

Both sides have some very talented young guns who had the ability to make a game out of no where. Sri Lanka will be relying on skipper Mathews, Tharanga, Gunaratne & Kusal Perera for a better batting show while the Proteas will be relying on AB, Amla, de Kock, du Plessis & Miller for some power hitting. Proteas have a very decent bowling attack in the likes of Rabada, Pretorious, Morris & Morkel, while Lankan’s would love to see the repeat performance of Malinga in ICC World Cup 2007 vs South Africa.
