The second most expensive franchise of Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL), Lahore Qalandars has retained experienced Pakistani all-rounder; Mohammad Hafeez for platinum category players and as a skipper for upcoming fifth edition of PSL to be held in February 2020.
Qalandars have chosen to go with the most apprehensive player as a captain choosing among players they have in their team. They have done it for sustainable results and maintaining equilibrium as they had lost 18 games out of 26 under captaincy of Brendon McCullum before 2019 which became the reason for facing criticism all over the social media. They had chosen Hafeez as captain in PSL 2019 as well and now have determined to retain him for fifth season providing Hafeez with a further chance.
Azhar, their first skipper, was expelled from the activity and never played again despite of the fact that he was at first held for the 2017 season, before being discharged.
The 39 year old had resigned from Test cricket after winding up with Test match against New Zealand in UAE in an order to concentrate on his limited overs profession. He has played eighty six T20 matches, scoring 1908 runs at a strike rate of 116.13 and 54 wickets in eighty nine matches with economy of 6.59 in T20Is. He captained Pakistan in T20Is somewhere in the range of 2012 and 2014 preceding venturing down only days after the teams exit from the gathering phase of the 2014 World T20 in Bangladesh.
Another recent breaking news of PSL from Lahore Qalandars was of AB De Villiers. According to sources, South African Cricketer AB De Villiers won’t be available for PSL 2020 and he has informed his unavailability to the management of Lahore Qalandars for the season 5 of Pakistan Super League.
It is to be noted that Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) Draft will take place on December 6. The tournament will entirely be staged in Pakistan with an action set to start in February 2020.
